So, this weekend I was going to make curtains...but then it was HOT and we don't have central air. So, instead, Ian and I went to Ikea to buy more bookshelves and a tv stand. Then we built them in the only room that has a window air conditioner. Then we spent all day in there putting stuff on the shelves. We managed to empty a bunch of boxes and I have lots of space to move around in my sewing room!

Yes, I can walk in there but I still haven't set up my sewing machine. It'll only take me a minute but curtains are annoying to sew so I'll probably put them off for another week.

And since I don't have any sewing to show you, you get pictures of bees. Lovely, fuzzy, oh-so-busy little bees. Don't worry, we have both kinds...honey and bumble. Nothing is too good for you, gentle readers!

In Bloom

Before we moved to our new neighborhood, I couldn't wait to get to know the very old and very grand houses on our street. I want to show them to you but so far the photos I've taken do not do them justice.

While I work on getting over my fear that people will think I'm a stalker because I'm taking a million pictures of their houses improving my photography skills, I'll show you some of their beautiful gardens.

Some are quiet and well groomed, some are showy and riotous. I love them all but there is a special place in my heart for the ones that are growing just a bit wild.

Settling In

It's been a few weeks since Ian and I moved into our new house. We're slowly settling in, unpacking the essentials and getting to know the house and our place in it.
(This is not our apartment, I just like the ivy.)

It's an old house and I feel like a bit of an intruder...but that's not exactly right. I feel like this house is...wondering about us, not quite sure if we are kindred spirits. But we are! Oh, I can just feel it! But there is much more settling to do before we both come to agree about that.

The one thing we have left to unpack is my studio. It's the room where all the miscellaneous boxes ended up. In the course of packing, I found so many unfinished projects. I'm excited to work on them, to finish them up and put them to good use. And I'd like to make a Liberty backpack for my walks to work.

But all that will have to wait until we make some more room, unpack some more boxes. I'm okay with waiting. I'm storing up inspiration and know it will come to good use.
