Sun falling through leaves.

I made this quilt for a friend, even though I was pretty sure she wasn’t going to like it:

sunny quilt

The inspiration was sun falling through leaves, a phrase she used when describing her favorite summer colors. It's supposed to be a summery picnic blanket or a sunny mid-winter-pick-me-up blanket.

She received it yesterday and said she loved it. So, that’s a relief!

My quilt count for the year stands at two! I’m getting better at this whole make a goal and stick with it thing. I’m still working on that block of the month quilt as my March quilt but the hexies got in the way last weekend. I’m also working on a quilt for my mom that needs to be finished by March 27 so that might be two quilts for March. Yes!

  1. Beautiful quilt! I've been really itching to take a local quilting class, but don't feel like dropping over $60 to learn. Your quilts keep me inspired though, and I will eventually just pick it up and give it a try.

  3. what a lucky lady to get such a pretty quilt. So I took your advice and checked out the quilt-a-long. I posted some pics of some fabric I bought on line. Check it out and let me know what you think. I think I am going to to do a black and white or a red for the backing. and white linen for the sashing.Have a great Friday~ Regina

  5. What a pretty quilt! I just recently found your blog and I wanted to thank you for the bento box tutorial! I'm new to quilting, I've been at it for 3 months, but I've been reading lots of blogs for advice and tutorials. I can't wait to see your progress on it, it's inspired me to try a bento box as well!
