Orphan Stars

This is an odd little quilt, but it's actually one of my favorites!

One year, I asked for orphan blocks from my quilt friends.  I wanted to feel connected to the quilting community again, and thought that receiving orphan blocks and turning them into quilts would be a fun challenge.

When I received all these stars, I knew right away that they should all go together into one quilt.  The fabric reminded me of Little House on the Prairie calico fabric.

Along with the stars, there were squares of similar fabrics.  I added fabrics from my stash that had a similar feel...soft and vintagey, tiny flowers, a bit of ephemera.

For the batting, I used a polyester high loft batting, something I'd never tried before.  I absolutely love the soft, puffy feel of this quilt.  And of course, it wouldn't be complete without a soft gingham bias binding.  Sigh...what a dreamy quilt.
