Cathedral Windows
I've been obsessed with cathedral windows quilts since I started quilting. The texture, the beautiful curved diamond windows...I just can't get enough!
I made this quilt the traditional way, which included sewing lots of huge fabric squares into pockets, turning them right-side out, ironing, folding, sewing again, adding the window fabric and sewing down the curves.
It was a huge undertaking and I'm SO proud of this quilt! Usually I start and stop a quilt a bunch of times over a few years before rallying and finishing it all in a frenzy. But this quilt, once I started, I knew that I'd never finish it if I took a break. I'm so grateful that I got the chance to make this quilt, I feel it's one of my highest quilting achievements!
So, when I learned that my friend Jen wanted a cathedral window quilt, I offered to make her one. I can't remember exactly how it all went, but I know we talked about what it would look like, the background color (Kona ash, I think?), and she cut and sent all the squares to go into the "windows".
This is a king size quilt and it's MASSIVE! I didn't even wash it before sending it to her because it wouldn't fit into our washing machine.
